Teak Decking Built Around the Vessel
A teak deck is one of the most visible and heavily used exterior elements of a yacht. A proper result depends on more than surface sanding: the condition of the planks, caulking seams, plugs, margins, edge details and substrate must be assessed before deciding whether repair, seam replacement / recaulking or replacement is required.
Our work ranges from focused local repairs to complete new teak decks, including swim platforms, steps and other exterior teak areas.

How We Approach a Teak Deck Project
- Inspection. We assess plank thickness, seams, plugs, margins, localized damage and the condition beneath the teak.
- Repair or replacement plan. We determine whether local repair, recaulking, partial replacement or a complete new deck is the practical solution.
- Preparation. Damaged material is removed and the underlying surface is prepared before new teak work begins.
- Fitting and detailing. Planks, margins, borders, plugs and seams are fitted to the geometry of the vessel.
- Finishing. The completed deck is leveled, sanded and checked for a consistent finish and clean detailing.

Teak Decking Questions
Does every worn teak deck need complete replacement?
No. Some decks can be extended with local plank repairs, plug replacement, seam work or recaulking. The correct approach depends on remaining teak thickness, the extent of damage and the condition below the deck.
Can you repair only part of a teak deck?
Yes. Where the surrounding teak is still serviceable, localized repair or partial replacement can be appropriate. The repair has to be planned around the existing plank layout, margins and seams.
Do you undertake deck caulking seam replacement / recaulking?
Yes. We remove old or deteriorated elastic caulking from the seams, prepare the channels correctly and apply new caulking compound as part of teak deck repair and restoration.
Do you work on swim platforms and steps?
Yes. Teak work can include swim platforms, steps, stairs and other exterior teak areas as well as the main deck.
