Yacht cap rails are highly visible exterior joinery and often involve demanding geometry, long continuous runs, complex curves, transitions and joints. The work must integrate accurately with the vessel's bulwarks, deck details and surrounding finishes.

65m Yacht Refit — Complex Sipo Mahogany Cap Rails
One of our key exterior-joinery projects was a 65m yacht refit involving complex Sipo mahogany cap rails.
At this scale, the work is not simply replacement timber. The cap rail has to follow the yacht precisely over long runs and changing geometry while maintaining consistent profiles, clean transitions and accurate joints. Fabrication, shaping and fitting all have to work together so the completed cap rail reads as one continuous piece of exterior joinery.
This project reflects the type of complex cap rail work we can undertake on large yachts as part of a wider refit.

How We Approach Cap Rail Work
- Assessment and templating. Existing geometry, condition and interfaces are reviewed before fabrication.
- Material and profile planning. Timber, section, curves, joints and finish requirements are defined.
- Fabrication and shaping. New rail sections are worked to the vessel's actual geometry.
- Dry fitting and adjustment. Sections are checked on the yacht before final fitting.
- Final fitting and finish preparation. Joints, transitions and surfaces are refined for the selected finishing system.
